I’ve just stumbled on an interesting post containing many Q-and-As regarding this particular issue: How to report paid links. I am particularly interested in one Q-and-A about paid links, review fees and web directory quality that basically answers this question: How do you know that you submit to a quality web directory?

Here is the interesting Q-and-A:

Q: Hey, as long as we’re talking about directories, can you talk about the role of directories, some of whom charge for

How do You Know You are Submitting to a Quality Web Directory?

We all know that DMOZ/ODP is a quality directory; we also know that BOTW (Best of the Web) is a quality directory. So does Yahoo! Directory. The problem is, those are the authority ones. How about the rest? How do we know whether a directory is high quality or not?

How to Know You are Submitting to a Good Directory?

It’s not that important whether a directory is offering free listing or paid one. Free directories can be better than paid ones, and paid directories can suck as bad as free ones. Then, how to know you are submitting to a decent directory?

Here are some questions to help you weed out useless directories:

1. Are they auto-approve directory listing?

Stay away from web directories that auto-approve links. There are 100% chances that those directories are full of crap.
