8 Ways to Create a Crappy Directory

I have just stumble a good thread on DigitalPoint forums giving you “good reasons” to create a crappy directory.

When it comes to directory, “crappiness” are mainly measured in term of SEO. Here are some ways to help you build a really bad directory:

1. Use the same database on your network of directories, containing the same listing with the same textual content across the network.

2. Approve all listings automatically with no quality control whatsoever.

3. Interlink all directories in your network. Doing so with sitewide links would be just perfect.

4. Offer a submission service to list a website on directories in your network, creating a good list of link farms full of duplicate content.

5. Host all directories in your network on the same IP address. The same IP C class would also work just fine.

6. Using blackhat SEO techniques that can help your directories in the short-run but not sure about the future.

7. Instead of creating your own directory categories, use a category dump producing a list of categories that are similar to thousands of other crappy directories.

8. Build a network of directories with identical look, category list, and listings.

Ouch. Those are really bad!

If you are doing several if not all of the above, turn from your wrong way and focus on building real directory business.
